Really Make Money Online From High Traffic

Let’s assume for a moment that you have high traffic to your site. You may think that’s an automatic ticket to make money online but there are hundreds of sites with a thousand plus visitor’s a day who make very little, if any, money. They’ve some how figured out how to get the traffic, they just don’t know what to do with it.

First thing you need to do with high traffic is give your visitors an opportunity to take an action that results in money going into your pocket. First thing that usually pops into people’s minds here is to use Google Adwords to make money online. I think of Adwords as a last resort or at best something to put at the bottom of your page when your visitor has ignored all other opportunities to make you some money. Why? Because it doesn’t pay you very much money.

The best thing you can do to convert high traffic into making money with your site is to get them to sign up for an email list. Yes, I know that you have heard this time and time again, but it really is the best thing to do and getting their email address is always better than getting an immediate sale. Once you have an email address you can present multiple opportunities for them to spend some money for you, provided you’ve first established some trust by sending them some valuable information. Space your sales pitch emails out enough and you will have the same people making you money time and time again.

So you’ve got their email address and they’re still on your site. What do you do now to make money online from this traffic? Present them with an offer from an affiliate program. Affiliate programs like Clickbank (links to another post)pay large commissions, many times as much as $50-$75 a pop, but usually more like $20-$30. Other ad programs will only pay you anywhere from a few cents to maybe at most a dollar for an ad click. I’m sticking with the affiliate programs.

How to present these offers. You will make the most money online with Affiliate programs if you work the offers into your normal content. This makes the sales pitch a little more subtle and has the strange effect of creating trust for the reader that you’ve bothered to mention the product in your actual web content. Don’t over do it! One mention a page, maybe two is plenty. You don’t want your reader to catch on to the fact your web content is just a sales page.

Another good way to make money online with these affiliate program is too place a few banner ads on the sides of your page or use them as a page break. I prefer the side positions but research has shown the people are more likely to click on ads that interrupt their reading. I believe a lot of those clicks are accidental. Adsense ads work well there.

Always remember to keep your most profitable money making opportunities on the top half of your web page. Many people land on a page read what’s visible and never scroll down. From my own personal observations I believe there are still a lot of people that don’t even know they can scroll down. Best way to make money online with your high traffic is to get their attention up front, not hope they will notice your email sign up form at the bottom of the page.
